Bio

Born June 20th, in the Windy City of Chicago, Idrees began performing piano recitals at the age of 10 and was later introduced to theater by his mother Elaine Mahmud, who is both his inspiration and mentor.  Idrees was a graduate of Percy L. Julian High School where he was featured in a number of school plays and talent shows.  He sang at school functions, community events and amateur shows in Chicago.  Upon graduation, he enrolled in Morehouse College and later Roosevelt University where he majored in Pre-Law and Education.  While attending Roosevelt, he taught English Literature at the high school grade level.

Inspired by Sharon Crawford, Idrees joined an acting class at ETA Theater in 2003 and was smitten by the acting bug. Idrees studied under Okoro Harold Johnson, his mentor, who took Idrees under his wings.  Okoro saw a natural talent in Idrees' acting ability and later referred him to the Shirley Hamilton Talent Agency. Idrees was showcased in a variety of roles in theater and television such as FOOTSTEPS IN THE DARK, THE HERITAGE, INVITATION TO A STRANGER and A SOLDIER’S STORY to name a few.

His film credits include, LAKEHOUSE, DERAILED, THE BREAKUP, BARBERSHOP II, ROLL BOUNCE, LEVERAGE, BANANA LEAVES, DESIRE’S SURPRISE, TAKE ME OUT, HIDING PLACES, THE PORTER and THE FORGOTTEN WEST.   One of Idrees most memorable films where he was chosen for the leading role was THE FORGOTTEN WEST directed by Vincent Singleton where he played Sargent Aiden Caine.  Most notably, Idrees was recently cast as Rodger the electronics man in the new sit-com pilot, FUNNY BUSINESS for Rush Hour Production Studios with performing icons Kid & Play.  The sit-com pilot is due out soon on TV One.

Idrees enjoys creating and nourishing the audience.  Acting allows Idrees to go through a spiritual transition.  He believes this is a way to highlight the major concerns of what is happening in the world and that acting reflects life and all of its mysteries.

Idrees is currently managed by his Manager, Diane Hampton.  Idrees lives in LA where he is dedicated to his craft of acting and continues his pursuit for his next role, one that is both challenging and inspirational.
